Za7 Starting Strong
December 22nd, 2007I am so excited about Za7. I can see it being a great resource for Web site owners and Internet Marketers.
It has:
1. Clean Categories
Only relevant and authority sites listed. The URL descriptions are all researched and re-written to reflect what the site is offering and including. This gives the Search Engines a great resource to pick the URL for relevancy of topic. The search engines are looking for unique, relevant information and that is exactly what I give them.
2. Small Numbers of Links in Categories
This is another way to maximize the link weight to the sites links in the category. If a category has 100 sites in it, then the link weight is distributed across them. Yuk, that means all your competitors and anyone remotely related is in YOUR category soaking up YOUR link weight! Its just unethical in my opinion. Categories need to be specific and populated with a small amount of links.
3. Quality Links
Authority and Valued Websites are listed in Za7. Why fill it up with worthless links? They share the weight and take up space. Even if they reciprocal link to you, why degrade the directory just for a worthless link? If a site is not all that great (black-hat), then being associated with them, from your link, you could get link weight reduced as well. What a bad deal that is. Why bother with that when you can keep your focus on the value-adding sites that will only help you.
4. Relevant Categories
Keeping your links in the right place is tedious work, but it pays off when the sites in your directory rank well for their topic. Taking care of category relevancy is a design problem. You need to decide how to lay it out first and follow those guidelines. You can tell which directories are relevant by what is in their main categories. It should be consistent and easy to follow. A main theme is to keep sites offering services in a Business and Services category while sites offering products go in the Shopping category.
A Clean Design for the Za7 Directory and the Za7 Blog are next. I want it to look great as well as work great. Stay tuned, more great things to come!
